Jessie Mae Robinson
Jessie Mae Robinson (October 1, 1919 – October 26, 1966) was a songwriter who wrote popular songs for many blues and R & B singers. Among her best-known songs are "I Went to Your Wedding," "Keep It a Secret," "The Other Woman," "Blue Light Boogie," (with Louis Jordan) and "Let's Have a Party."
In 1953, Robinson became the first female African-American member of ASCAP. She had three songs in the Lucky Strike Hit Parade at the same time: "I Went to your Wedding" by Patti Page, "Keep It a Secret" by Jo Stafford, and "Just a Poor Bachelor" by Frankie Laine.
Nina Simone covered Robinson's song "The Other Woman" for her 1959 album Nina Simone at Town Hall.
Lana Del Rey covered Robinson's song "The Other Woman" for her 2014 album Ultraviolence.
